Gap Creek Residence

Elizabethton, Tennessee

This residence, designed for a young family in East Tennessee, takes advantage of a steep lot. An entry sequence and large, open living space open to a wooded hillside to the North preserving the natural features that make the site desirable. Strong symmetry in plan is balanced with a design that emulates the existing topography in section. Open space, areas for entertainment and natural light are made a priority in the design of both.

The primary concept for this design is the creation of a section that limits the amount of site work required for construction and opens the site to the desriable view of a wooded hillside.
