The Planning Agency (PA) is an architectural design practice driven by vernacular influence, atmosphere, and the thoughtful assembly of space, materials, and technology. Highly responsive to history, landscape, and utility, our work explores strong connections to the outdoors with a thoughtful understanding of building fundamentals.

We founded our practice in 2015 with a primary focus on architecture, interiors, and planning through a contextual lens, endlessly looking to the regional environments of our projects to inform refined and progressive design solutions. Our team has deep roots in rural Appalachia, the urban Midwest, and the Mex-American prairies where unnoted, hyper-normal architectures still mean something. These are quiet places, but speak volumes to us on the appropriateness of architecture in contemporary society.

We approach the process of design and construction as equal partners with our clients, design consultants, and craftsmen with whom we collaborate, and have been recognized for design excellence by the AIA at both regional and national levels. We are grateful to practice in various scales, typologies, and regions throughout the United States.
